TExES PPR for Trade and Industrial Education 6-12 (370) Practice Exam

The purpose of a teaching portfolio in self-assessment revolves around its function as a comprehensive collection of materials that demonstrates a teacher's professional growth, skills, and educational philosophy. By including artifacts such as lesson plans, assessment rubrics, and reflective narratives, the portfolio provides evidence of how the teacher's practices align with established goals and standards. This collection not only highlights successful teaching strategies and developmental progress but also encourages the educator to critically analyze their own methods and adapt their teaching in response to self-reflection.

The inclusion of lesson plans and assessment tools is particularly valuable because it allows the teacher to showcase their planning process, instructional choices, and how they measure student learning. This process of reflection and documentation is essential for professional development, as educators can identify what works, areas for improvement, and set future goals based on their experiences captured within the portfolio.
